NameSilo MCP

Lemon Domains is the unofficial NameSilo MCP server. Connect your NameSilo account by API once, and Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or any MCP client can answer questions about your NameSilo domains next to the domains you hold at every other registrar. Connections start read only, so your AI changes only what you allow.

  • “Which of my NameSilo domains expire in the next 60 days?”
  • “Is auto-renew on for every domain at NameSilo?”
  • “Did the nameservers change on any of my NameSilo domains this week?”

Connect NameSilo to Lemon Domains

Three steps: create a read-only API key at NameSilo, add it to Lemon Domains, and your domains sync once a day from then on. Connect as many NameSilo accounts as you have.

Step 1

Create a read-only API key at NameSilo

Give it the least access you can

Generate a read-only key in API Manager. A read-only key can list domains but cannot renew, transfer or change them.

  1. 1Sign in to NameSilo and open Account → API Manager.
  2. 2Tick “Generate read-only key” so the key cannot change anything.
  3. 3If you limit the key to certain IP addresses, allow the Lemon Domains IP address shown on the connect page.
  4. 4Accept the terms, generate the key and copy it. NameSilo only shows it once.

Open NameSilo API settings

Step 2

Add it to Lemon Domains

  1. 1Sign in to Lemon Domains (it's free), open Connections and choose NameSilo.
  2. 2Give the connection a friendly name, like “NameSilo personal” or “NameSilo clients”. Connect each NameSilo account separately.
  3. 3Paste your api key.
  4. 4Click Test connection. Lemon Domains checks the API key and shows how many domains it can see, without saving anything.
  5. 5Tick the checkbox to confirm you understand the risks, pick the project new domains go into, and click Connect and import. Your domains appear straight away and sync once a day after that.
Step 3

What Lemon Domains reads

Synced once a day
  • Domain names (including internationalised names)
  • Status, such as active, expired or pending transfer
  • Expiry and registration dates
  • Whether auto-renew is on
  • Nameservers
  • Transfer lock
  • WHOIS privacy
Read only unless you choose

Each connection is Read only or Can make changes, and you pick. Read only sends NameSilo read requests and nothing else. Can make changes also lets you, your Editors and AI apps you allow turn auto-renew and the transfer lock on or off, change nameservers and buy domains within the workspace's spend limit from Lemon Domains, from a fixed list of calls. It never renews, transfers or deletes a domain. Every change is emailed to Owners and can be undone. Your API key is encrypted at rest and never shown again.

If something goes wrong

NameSilo rejects the API key
Copy it again with no spaces at either end. Some registrars only show the secret once, so create a new key if you didn't save it.
The key has an IP restriction
Lemon Domains connects from 2.31.94.66. Add it to the API key's allowed IPs, or remove the restriction.
Some domains are missing
Make sure the API key belongs to the NameSilo account (or sub-account) that holds those domains. Connect each account separately.

Rather not use an API key? Import by paste or CSV

Copy your list from the NameSilo portal, paste it into Lemon Domains, and you're done. Re-import any time to refresh. Paste or CSV import needs no NameSilo credentials at all.

Open your NameSilo domain list

  1. 1Open your NameSilo account at namesilo.com and go to the domain list.
  2. 2If the list paginates, switch to "show all" or the largest page size so every NameSilo domain is visible.
  3. 3Copy the visible list, or export to CSV if NameSilo offers it from the account area.
  4. 4In Lemon Domains, click Import, paste the list or upload the CSV, and map the columns. Lemon Domains previews everything before it commits.
  5. 5Give the registrar account a friendly label (for example "NameSilo personal" or "NameSilo client work") so sub-accounts stay distinct.

Frequently asked questions

Does Lemon Domains support NameSilo domains?

Yes. Connect your NameSilo account with an API key and Lemon Domains syncs your domains automatically once a day. You can also import by pasting your domain list from the NameSilo dashboard or uploading a CSV export. Multiple NameSilo accounts are supported with friendly labels so sub-accounts stay distinct in the unified portfolio.

How do I get a NameSilo API key?

Sign in to NameSilo and open Account → API Manager. Tick “Generate read-only key” so the key cannot change anything. If you limit the key to certain IP addresses, allow the Lemon Domains IP address shown on the connect page. Accept the terms, generate the key and copy it. NameSilo only shows it once. Generate a read-only key in API Manager. A read-only key can list domains but cannot renew, transfer or change them.

Do I need to share my NameSilo password?

No. Connecting by API uses an API key you create at NameSilo, not your password. Generate a read-only key in API Manager. A read-only key can list domains but cannot renew, transfer or change them. Keys are encrypted at rest. Lemon Domains only sends read requests unless you set the connection to Can make changes, which also lets you turn auto-renew and the transfer lock on or off, change nameservers and buy domains within the workspace's spend limit from Lemon Domains. Or skip the API and paste your list or upload a CSV.

Can I track multiple NameSilo accounts?

Yes. Add one connection per NameSilo account, each with its own friendly name. Personal and business logins, sub-accounts, and client accounts all sit side by side in one dashboard.

Does Lemon Domains renew my NameSilo domains?

No. Renewal still happens at NameSilo. Lemon Domains tracks expiry dates and auto-renew status so you know exactly when to act, but the renewal button stays at NameSilo.

Can AI assistants query my NameSilo domains?

Yes. The Lemon Domains MCP server lets ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor and any MCP client query your full portfolio, including NameSilo domains, in plain English. Choose read-only or read-and-write access for each token.

Is NameSilo ICANN-accredited?

Yes. NameSilo is on the ICANN list of accredited registrars, so it can register generic extensions such as .com directly with the registries.

What is NameSilo's IANA ID?

1479. The IANA registrar ID appears in the registrar field of a domain's public record, so it shows which registrar a domain is with.

Is there an MCP server for NameSilo domains?

Yes. Lemon Domains connects to NameSilo by API and serves your NameSilo domains through its remote MCP server, so Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and any MCP client can answer questions about them. It is independent of NameSilo and not affiliated with it, so the same connection also covers your domains at every other registrar.

Does NameSilo have an API?

Yes. Lemon Domains connects to NameSilo by API and syncs your domain list every day, with expiry dates and renewal settings. Your AI assistant can then answer questions about those domains through the Lemon Domains MCP server.
