GoDaddy MCP

Lemon Domains is the unofficial GoDaddy MCP server. Connect your GoDaddy account by API once, and Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or any MCP client can answer questions about your GoDaddy domains next to the domains you hold at every other registrar. Connections start read only, so your AI changes only what you allow.

  • “Which of my GoDaddy domains expire in the next 60 days?”
  • “Is auto-renew on for every domain at GoDaddy?”
  • “Did the nameservers change on any of my GoDaddy domains this week?”

Connect GoDaddy to Lemon Domains

Three steps: create a read-only API key at GoDaddy, add it to Lemon Domains, and your domains sync once a day from then on. Connect as many GoDaddy accounts as you have.

Step 1

Create a read-only API key at GoDaddy

Give it the least access you can

A Personal Access Token with only the domains.domain:read permission. It can read your domains but cannot change, renew, transfer or buy anything. Tokens expire, so replace it before its expiry date.

Who can use the API

GoDaddy only allows API access to accounts that meet its rules, currently at least one domain in the account or a plan that includes API access. If your account is not eligible, use CSV import instead.

  1. 1Sign in at developer.godaddy.com and open Personal Access Tokens, then choose Generate Token.
  2. 2Name it “Lemon Domains” and pick an expiry (up to one year).
  3. 3Under Permissions, expand Domains & DNS and tick only domains.domain:read. Leave every other permission off.
  4. 4Create the token, copy it (it is only shown once) and paste it in Lemon Domains. Leave API secret blank: a personal access token has no secret.
  5. 5Already have an older GoDaddy API key and secret? They still work: paste the key in the first field and the secret under API secret.

Open GoDaddy API settings

Step 2

Add it to Lemon Domains

  1. 1Sign in to Lemon Domains (it's free), open Connections and choose GoDaddy.
  2. 2Give the connection a friendly name, like “GoDaddy personal” or “GoDaddy clients”. Connect each GoDaddy account separately.
  3. 3Paste your personal access token.
  4. 4Click Test connection. Lemon Domains checks the API key and shows how many domains it can see, without saving anything.
  5. 5Tick the checkbox to confirm you understand the risks, pick the project new domains go into, and click Connect and import. Your domains appear straight away and sync once a day after that.
Step 3

What Lemon Domains reads

Synced once a day
  • Domain names (including internationalised names)
  • Status, such as active, expired or pending transfer
  • Expiry and registration dates
  • Whether auto-renew is on
  • Nameservers
  • Transfer lock
  • WHOIS privacy
Read only unless you choose

Each connection is Read only or Can make changes, and you pick. Read only sends GoDaddy read requests and nothing else. Can make changes also lets you, your Editors and AI apps you allow turn auto-renew and the transfer lock on or off and change nameservers from Lemon Domains, from a fixed list of calls. It never renews, transfers or deletes a domain. Every change is emailed to Owners and can be undone. Your API key is encrypted at rest and never shown again.

If something goes wrong

GoDaddy rejects the API key
Copy it again with no spaces at either end. Some registrars only show the secret once, so create a new key if you didn't save it.
The key has an IP restriction
Lemon Domains connects from 2.31.94.66. Add it to the API key's allowed IPs, or remove the restriction.
Some domains are missing
Make sure the API key belongs to the GoDaddy account (or sub-account) that holds those domains. Connect each account separately.

Rather not use an API key? Import by paste or CSV

Copy your list from the GoDaddy portal, paste it into Lemon Domains, and you're done. Re-import any time to refresh. Paste or CSV import needs no GoDaddy credentials at all.

Open your GoDaddy portfolio

  1. 1Open your GoDaddy portfolio at dcc.godaddy.com/control/portfolio.
  2. 2Select all the domains you want to import (use the page-size control to grab them in chunks).
  3. 3Copy the visible list, or export to CSV from the GoDaddy bulk actions menu.
  4. 4In Lemon Domains, click Import, paste the list or upload the CSV, and map the columns. Lemon Domains previews everything before it commits.
  5. 5Set the registrar account label to 'GoDaddy' (or whatever name you want to see in the dashboard) and submit.

ICANN accreditations (3)

Each accreditation has its own IANA registrar ID and name. A domain registered through any of them can show that name as its registrar.

Frequently asked questions

Does Lemon Domains support GoDaddy domains?

Yes. Connect your GoDaddy account with an API key and Lemon Domains syncs your domains automatically once a day. GoDaddy only allows API access to accounts that meet its rules, currently at least one domain in the account or a plan that includes API access. If your account is not eligible, use CSV import instead. You can also import by pasting your domain list from the GoDaddy dashboard or uploading a CSV export. Multiple GoDaddy accounts are supported with friendly labels so sub-accounts stay distinct in the unified portfolio.

How do I get a GoDaddy API key?

Sign in at developer.godaddy.com and open Personal Access Tokens, then choose Generate Token. Name it “Lemon Domains” and pick an expiry (up to one year). Under Permissions, expand Domains & DNS and tick only domains.domain:read. Leave every other permission off. Create the token, copy it (it is only shown once) and paste it in Lemon Domains. Leave API secret blank: a personal access token has no secret. Already have an older GoDaddy API key and secret? They still work: paste the key in the first field and the secret under API secret. A Personal Access Token with only the domains.domain:read permission. It can read your domains but cannot change, renew, transfer or buy anything. Tokens expire, so replace it before its expiry date.

Can every GoDaddy account use API sync?

No. GoDaddy only allows API access for accounts it deems eligible. Lemon Domains checks when you connect and tells you if GoDaddy refuses the key; any account can import by paste or CSV instead.

Do I need to share my GoDaddy password?

No. Connecting by API uses an API key you create at GoDaddy, not your password. A Personal Access Token with only the domains.domain:read permission. It can read your domains but cannot change, renew, transfer or buy anything. Tokens expire, so replace it before its expiry date. Keys are encrypted at rest. Lemon Domains only sends read requests unless you set the connection to Can make changes, which also lets you turn auto-renew and the transfer lock on or off and change nameservers from Lemon Domains. Or skip the API and paste your list or upload a CSV.

Can I track multiple GoDaddy accounts?

Yes. Add one connection per GoDaddy account, each with its own friendly name. Personal and business logins, sub-accounts, and client accounts all sit side by side in one dashboard.

Does Lemon Domains renew my GoDaddy domains?

No. Renewal still happens at GoDaddy. Lemon Domains tracks expiry dates and auto-renew status so you know exactly when to act, but the renewal button stays at GoDaddy.

Can AI assistants query my GoDaddy domains?

Yes. The Lemon Domains MCP server lets ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor and any MCP client query your full portfolio, including GoDaddy domains, in plain English. Choose read-only or read-and-write access for each token.

Is GoDaddy ICANN-accredited?

Yes. GoDaddy is on the ICANN list of accredited registrars with 3 accreditations, so it can register generic extensions such as .com directly with the registries.

What is GoDaddy's IANA ID?

GoDaddy has 3 IANA registrar IDs, one per accreditation: 146, 1659, 3786.

What other names does GoDaddy operate under?

Its accreditations are also held as GoDaddy.com, LLC, GoDaddy Online Services Cayman Islands Ltd. and GoDaddy Corporate Domains, LLC. Domains registered through any of them can show those names as the registrar.

Is there an MCP server for GoDaddy domains?

Yes. Lemon Domains connects to GoDaddy by API and serves your GoDaddy domains through its remote MCP server, so Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and any MCP client can answer questions about them. It is independent of GoDaddy and not affiliated with it, so the same connection also covers your domains at every other registrar.

Does GoDaddy have an API?

Yes. Lemon Domains connects to GoDaddy by API and syncs your domain list every day, with expiry dates and renewal settings. Your AI assistant can then answer questions about those domains through the Lemon Domains MCP server.
