OpenFrequently asked questions
What is a DNS lookup?
A DNS lookup queries the Domain Name System for the records attached to a domain: where it points (A and AAAA), its mail servers (MX), text records like SPF and verification tokens (TXT), its nameservers (NS), and more. This tool fetches them live over DNS-over-HTTPS.
Which record types does it check?
A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT, NS, SOA, and CAA. Each is queried in parallel and grouped in the results, with only the record types that exist shown.
Is the lookup live?
Yes. Every query hits a public resolver in real time, so you see current DNS data, subject to caching and TTLs along the way. There is no account and no rate limit for normal use.
Why do I see no records for a domain?
Either the domain has no public DNS configured, the name is misspelled, or the record type simply is not set. A registered domain with no A or MX records is common for parked or newly registered names.
Can I monitor a domain after checking it?
Yes. Add it to Lemon Domains to track expiry and registrar across your whole portfolio, so a domain never lapses while you are busy reading its DNS.
Stop letting domains slip through the cracks.
Five minutes to import. A lifetime of not refreshing five registrar tabs.
