Connect hosting.de to Lemon Domains

Three steps: create a read-only API key at hosting.de, add it to Lemon Domains, and your domains sync once a day from then on. Connect as many hosting.de accounts as you have.

Step 1

Create a read-only API key at hosting.de

Give it the least access you can

hosting.de API keys carry their own rights. A key whose only right is listing domains can read your domains and change nothing.

  1. 1Sign in to the hosting.de panel and open your user profile.
  2. 2Under API keys, create a new key named “Lemon Domains”.
  3. 3Give the key only the right to list domains and leave every other right off.
  4. 4If you limit the key to certain IP addresses, allow the Lemon Domains IP address shown on the connect page.
  5. 5Save the key and copy it.

Open hosting.de API settings

Step 2

Add it to Lemon Domains

  1. 1Sign in to Lemon Domains (it's free), open Connections and choose hosting.de.
  2. 2Give the connection a friendly name, like “hosting.de personal” or “hosting.de clients”. Connect each hosting.de account separately.
  3. 3Paste your api key.
  4. 4Click Test connection. Lemon Domains checks the API key and shows how many domains it can see, without saving anything.
  5. 5Tick the checkbox to confirm you understand the risks, pick the project new domains go into, and click Connect and import. Your domains appear straight away and sync once a day after that.
Step 3

What Lemon Domains reads

Synced once a day
  • Domain names (including internationalised names)
  • Status, such as active, expired or pending transfer
  • Expiry and registration dates
  • Whether auto-renew is on
  • Nameservers
  • Transfer lock
Read-only by design

Lemon Domains only ever sends read requests to hosting.de: each integration has a fixed list of read-only calls it may make, so it never renews, transfers or changes a domain. Your API key is encrypted at rest and never shown again.

If something goes wrong

hosting.de rejects the API key
Copy it again with no spaces at either end. Some registrars only show the secret once, so create a new key if you didn't save it.
The key has an IP restriction
Lemon Domains connects from 2.31.94.66. Add it to the API key's allowed IPs, or remove the restriction.
Some domains are missing
Make sure the API key belongs to the hosting.de account (or sub-account) that holds those domains. Connect each account separately.

Rather not use an API key? Import by paste or CSV

Copy your list from the hosting.de portal, paste it into Lemon Domains, and you're done. Re-import any time to refresh. Paste or CSV import needs no hosting.de credentials at all.

Open your hosting.de panel

  1. 1Open your hosting.de account at hosting.de and go to the domain list.
  2. 2If the list paginates, switch to "show all" or the largest page size so every hosting.de domain is visible.
  3. 3Copy the visible list, or export to CSV if hosting.de offers it from the account area.
  4. 4In Lemon Domains, click Import, paste the list or upload the CSV, and map the columns. Lemon Domains previews everything before it commits.
  5. 5Give the registrar account a friendly label (for example "hosting.de personal" or "hosting.de client work") so sub-accounts stay distinct.
