SiteHost MCP

Lemon Domains is the unofficial SiteHost MCP server. Connect your SiteHost account by API once, and Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or any MCP client can answer questions about your SiteHost domains next to the domains you hold at every other registrar. Connections start read only, so your AI changes only what you allow.

  • “Which of my SiteHost domains expire in the next 60 days?”
  • “Is auto-renew on for every domain at SiteHost?”
  • “Did the nameservers change on any of my SiteHost domains this week?”

Domain extensions SiteHost sells

Confirmed on its site: .au, .com, .nz, .org.

Transferring a domain away from SiteHost

Turn off Domain Lock on the domain's page, then request a new code in the Domains module of the Control Panel. It is emailed to the registrant, and each request replaces the previous code.

Give the code to the new registrar to start the transfer. Most extensions can't move within 60 days of registration or a previous transfer. SiteHost's guide

Connect SiteHost to Lemon Domains

Three steps: create a read-only API key at SiteHost, add it to Lemon Domains, and your domains sync once a day from then on. Connect as many SiteHost accounts as you have.

Step 1

Create a read-only API key at SiteHost

Give it the least access you can

A SiteHost API key allowed only the domain (SRS) API calls. Lemon Domains only ever calls srs/list_domains with it.

  1. 1Sign in to the SiteHost Control Panel and open the API keys section (SiteHost's guide: kb.sitehost.nz/developers/api).
  2. 2Add a key named “Lemon Domains” and allow it the domain (SRS) API calls only.
  3. 3If you limit the key to certain IP addresses, allow the Lemon Domains IP address shown on the connect page.
  4. 4Copy the key, and your client ID (the number next to your client name), into the form in Lemon Domains.

Open SiteHost API settings

Step 2

Add it to Lemon Domains

  1. 1Sign in to Lemon Domains (it's free), open Connections and choose SiteHost.
  2. 2Give the connection a friendly name, like “SiteHost personal” or “SiteHost clients”. Connect each SiteHost account separately.
  3. 3Paste your client id and api key.
  4. 4Click Test connection. Lemon Domains checks the API key and shows how many domains it can see, without saving anything.
  5. 5Tick the checkbox to confirm you understand the risks, pick the project new domains go into, and click Connect and import. Your domains appear straight away and sync once a day after that.
Step 3

What Lemon Domains reads

Synced once a day
  • Domain names (including internationalised names)
  • Status, such as active, expired or pending transfer
  • Expiry and registration dates
  • Whether auto-renew is on
  • Transfer lock
  • WHOIS privacy
Read-only by design

Lemon Domains only ever sends read requests to SiteHost: each integration has a fixed list of read-only calls it may make, so it never renews, transfers or changes a domain. Your API key is encrypted at rest and never shown again.

If something goes wrong

SiteHost rejects the API key
Copy it again with no spaces at either end. Some registrars only show the secret once, so create a new key if you didn't save it.
The key has an IP restriction
Lemon Domains connects from 2.31.94.66. Add it to the API key's allowed IPs, or remove the restriction.
Some domains are missing
Make sure the API key belongs to the SiteHost account (or sub-account) that holds those domains. Connect each account separately.

Rather not use an API key? Import by paste or CSV

Copy your list from the SiteHost portal, paste it into Lemon Domains, and you're done. Re-import any time to refresh. Paste or CSV import needs no SiteHost credentials at all.

Open the SiteHost Control Panel

  1. 1Open your SiteHost account at sitehost.nz and go to the domain list.
  2. 2If the list paginates, switch to "show all" or the largest page size so every SiteHost domain is visible.
  3. 3Copy the visible list, or export to CSV if SiteHost offers it from the account area.
  4. 4In Lemon Domains, click Import, paste the list or upload the CSV, and map the columns. Lemon Domains previews everything before it commits.
  5. 5Give the registrar account a friendly label (for example "SiteHost personal" or "SiteHost client work") so sub-accounts stay distinct.

Multiple SiteHost accounts are supported with friendly labels so sub-accounts stay distinct in the unified portfolio.

How do I get a SiteHost API key?

Sign in to the SiteHost Control Panel and open the API keys section (SiteHost's guide: kb.sitehost.nz/developers/api). Add a key named “Lemon Domains” and allow it the domain (SRS) API calls only. If you limit the key to certain IP addresses, allow the Lemon Domains IP address shown on the connect page. Do I need to share my SiteHost password?

No. Connecting by API uses an API key you create at SiteHost, not your password. A SiteHost API key allowed only the domain (SRS) API calls. Lemon Domains only ever calls srs/list_domains with it.
