Shellrent MCP
Lemon Domains is the unofficial Shellrent MCP server. Connect your Shellrent account by API once, and Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or any MCP client can answer questions about your Shellrent domains next to the domains you hold at every other registrar. Connections start read only, so your AI changes only what you allow.
- “Which of my Shellrent domains expire in the next 60 days?”
- “Is auto-renew on for every domain at Shellrent?”
- “Did the nameservers change on any of my Shellrent domains this week?”

Connect Shellrent to Lemon Domains
Three steps: create a read-only API key at Shellrent, add it to Lemon Domains, and your domains sync once a day from then on. Connect as many Shellrent accounts as you have.
Create a read-only API key at Shellrent
Shellrent API clients have scopes. Give this client only the read scope for domains (and not domains:secrets); its tokens can then list domains and nothing else.
- 1Sign in to the Shellrent Manager and open the API section of your profile.
- 2Create an API client named “Lemon Domains” and give it only the read scope for domains. Leave out domains:secrets, so transfer codes are never shared.
- 3If you limit the key to certain IP addresses, allow the Lemon Domains IP address shown on the connect page.
- 4Copy the client ID and the client secret into the fields in Lemon Domains. The secret is only shown once.
Add it to Lemon Domains
- 1Sign in to Lemon Domains (it's free), open Connections and choose Shellrent.
- 2Give the connection a friendly name, like “Shellrent personal” or “Shellrent clients”. Connect each Shellrent account separately.
- 3Paste your client id and client secret.
- 4Click Test connection. Lemon Domains checks the API key and shows how many domains it can see, without saving anything.
- 5Tick the checkbox to confirm you understand the risks, pick the project new domains go into, and click Connect and import. Your domains appear straight away and sync once a day after that.
What Lemon Domains reads
- Domain names (including internationalised names)
- Status, such as active, expired or pending transfer
- Expiry and registration dates
- Nameservers
- Transfer lock
Lemon Domains only ever sends read requests to Shellrent: each integration has a fixed list of read-only calls it may make, so it never renews, transfers or changes a domain. Your API key is encrypted at rest and never shown again.
If something goes wrong
- Shellrent rejects the API key
- Copy it again with no spaces at either end. Some registrars only show the secret once, so create a new key if you didn't save it.
- The key has an IP restriction
- Lemon Domains connects from 2.31.94.66. Add it to the API key's allowed IPs, or remove the restriction.
- Some domains are missing
- Make sure the API key belongs to the Shellrent account (or sub-account) that holds those domains. Connect each account separately.
Rather not use an API key? Import by paste or CSV
Copy your list from the Shellrent portal, paste it into Lemon Domains, and you're done. Re-import any time to refresh. Paste or CSV import needs no Shellrent credentials at all.
- 1Open your Shellrent account at shellrent.com and go to the domain list.
- 2If the list paginates, switch to "show all" or the largest page size so every Shellrent domain is visible.
- 3Copy the visible list, or export to CSV if Shellrent offers it from the account area.
- 4In Lemon Domains, click Import, paste the list or upload the CSV, and map the columns. Lemon Domains previews everything before it commits.
- 5Give the registrar account a friendly label (for example "Shellrent personal" or "Shellrent client work") so sub-accounts stay distinct.

Frequently asked questions
Does Lemon Domains support Shellrent domains?
Yes. Connect your Shellrent account with an API key and Lemon Domains syncs your domains automatically once a day. You can also import by pasting your domain list from the Shellrent dashboard or uploading a CSV export. Multiple Shellrent accounts are supported with friendly labels so sub-accounts stay distinct in the unified portfolio.
How do I get a Shellrent API key?
Sign in to the Shellrent Manager and open the API section of your profile. Create an API client named “Lemon Domains” and give it only the read scope for domains. Leave out domains:secrets, so transfer codes are never shared. If you limit the key to certain IP addresses, allow the Lemon Domains IP address shown on the connect page. Copy the client ID and the client secret into the fields in Lemon Domains. The secret is only shown once. Shellrent API clients have scopes. Give this client only the read scope for domains (and not domains:secrets); its tokens can then list domains and nothing else.
Do I need to share my Shellrent password?
No. Connecting by API uses an API key you create at Shellrent, not your password. Shellrent API clients have scopes. Give this client only the read scope for domains (and not domains:secrets); its tokens can then list domains and nothing else. Keys are encrypted at rest. Lemon Domains only ever sends read requests. Or skip the API and paste your list or upload a CSV.
Can I track multiple Shellrent accounts?
Yes. Add one connection per Shellrent account, each with its own friendly name. Personal and business logins, sub-accounts, and client accounts all sit side by side in one dashboard.
Does Lemon Domains renew my Shellrent domains?
No. Renewal still happens at Shellrent. Lemon Domains tracks expiry dates and auto-renew status so you know exactly when to act, but the renewal button stays at Shellrent.
Can AI assistants query my Shellrent domains?
Yes. The Lemon Domains MCP server lets ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor and any MCP client query your full portfolio, including Shellrent domains, in plain English. Choose read-only or read-and-write access for each token.
Is Shellrent ICANN-accredited?
Shellrent is not on the ICANN list of accredited registrars. It registers .it domains through the country-code registry.
Is there an MCP server for Shellrent domains?
Yes. Lemon Domains connects to Shellrent by API and serves your Shellrent domains through its remote MCP server, so Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and any MCP client can answer questions about them. It is independent of Shellrent and not affiliated with it, so the same connection also covers your domains at every other registrar.
Does Shellrent have an API?
Yes. Lemon Domains connects to Shellrent by API and syncs your domain list every day, with expiry dates and renewal settings. Your AI assistant can then answer questions about those domains through the Lemon Domains MCP server.
What domain extensions does Shellrent sell?
Its price list includes .it.
