Metaregistrar MCP

Lemon Domains is the unofficial Metaregistrar MCP server. Connect your Metaregistrar account by API once, and Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or any MCP client can answer questions about your Metaregistrar domains next to the domains you hold at every other registrar. Connections start read only, so your AI changes only what you allow.

  • “Which of my Metaregistrar domains expire in the next 60 days?”
  • “Is auto-renew on for every domain at Metaregistrar?”
  • “Did the nameservers change on any of my Metaregistrar domains this week?”

Connect Metaregistrar to Lemon Domains

Three steps: create a read-only API key at Metaregistrar, add it to Lemon Domains, and your domains sync once a day from then on. Connect as many Metaregistrar accounts as you have.

Step 1

Create a read-only API key at Metaregistrar

Give it the least access you can

A Metaregistrar API key with only the domain list (view) permission. Metaregistrar keys carry per-endpoint permissions, so this key can read your portfolio and change nothing.

Who can use the API

Metaregistrar API keys are available to every Metaregistrar account holder.

  1. 1Sign in to the Metaregistrar control panel and open API keys.
  2. 2Create a new key named “Lemon Domains” and give it only the permission to view (list) domains.
  3. 3Add the Lemon Domains IP address shown on this page to the key's IP whitelist.
  4. 4Copy the key and enter it in Lemon Domains.

Open Metaregistrar API settings

Step 2

Add it to Lemon Domains

  1. 1Sign in to Lemon Domains (it's free), open Connections and choose Metaregistrar.
  2. 2Give the connection a friendly name, like “Metaregistrar personal” or “Metaregistrar clients”. Connect each Metaregistrar account separately.
  3. 3Paste your api key.
  4. 4Click Test connection. Lemon Domains checks the API key and shows how many domains it can see, without saving anything.
  5. 5Tick the checkbox to confirm you understand the risks, pick the project new domains go into, and click Connect and import. Your domains appear straight away and sync once a day after that.
Step 3

What Lemon Domains reads

Synced once a day
  • Domain names (including internationalised names)
  • Status, such as active, expired or pending transfer
  • Expiry and registration dates
  • Whether auto-renew is on
  • Transfer lock
Read-only by design

Lemon Domains only ever sends read requests to Metaregistrar: each integration has a fixed list of read-only calls it may make, so it never renews, transfers or changes a domain. Your API key is encrypted at rest and never shown again.

If something goes wrong

Metaregistrar rejects the API key
Copy it again with no spaces at either end. Some registrars only show the secret once, so create a new key if you didn't save it.
Metaregistrar rejects calls from Lemon Domains' IP address
Lemon Domains connects from 2.31.94.66. Add it to the API key's allowed IPs at Metaregistrar.
Some domains are missing
Make sure the API key belongs to the Metaregistrar account (or sub-account) that holds those domains. Connect each account separately.

Rather not use an API key? Import by paste or CSV

Copy your list from the Metaregistrar portal, paste it into Lemon Domains, and you're done. Re-import any time to refresh. Paste or CSV import needs no Metaregistrar credentials at all.

Open the Metaregistrar control panel

  1. 1Open your Metaregistrar account at metaregistrar.com and go to the domain list.
  2. 2If the list paginates, switch to "show all" or the largest page size so every Metaregistrar domain is visible.
  3. 3Copy the visible list, or export to CSV if Metaregistrar offers it from the account area.
  4. 4In Lemon Domains, click Import, paste the list or upload the CSV, and map the columns. Lemon Domains previews everything before it commits.
  5. 5Give the registrar account a friendly label (for example "Metaregistrar personal" or "Metaregistrar client work") so sub-accounts stay distinct.
