INWX MCP

Lemon Domains is the unofficial INWX MCP server. Connect your INWX account by API once, and Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or any MCP client can answer questions about your INWX domains next to the domains you hold at every other registrar. Connections start read only, so your AI changes only what you allow.

  • “Which of my INWX domains expire in the next 60 days?”
  • “Is auto-renew on for every domain at INWX?”
  • “Did the nameservers change on any of my INWX domains this week?”

INWX's price list has 2,207 extensions: 563 generic, 246 country-code and 1,398 second-level. Read from inwx.com in October 2026. Each one links to its registry, rules and the other registrars that sell it. The 1,398 second-level extensions are on its own price list.

Country code 246

Transferring a domain away from INWX

In the customer area, open Domain transfer, go to the Prepare for Outgoing Transfer tab and enter the domain. Accepting the terms removes the transfer lock and shows the authorization code.

Give the code to the new registrar to start the transfer. Most extensions can't move within 60 days of registration or a previous transfer. INWX's guide

Connect INWX to Lemon Domains

Three steps: create a read-only API login at INWX, add it to Lemon Domains, and your domains sync once a day from then on. Connect as many INWX accounts as you have.

Step 1

Create a read-only API login at INWX

Give it the least access you can

INWX has no API keys or read-only tokens: the API logs in with a username and password. Use a dedicated sub-account limited to viewing domains, so the main account's password and 2FA are never shared.

  1. 1Sign in to INWX. We recommend creating a separate sub-account for Lemon Domains in your account settings and giving it only the right to view domains, if your account offers that.
  2. 2Leave two-factor authentication off for that sub-account, or note its 2FA shared secret (the text behind the QR code) when you set 2FA up.
  3. 3Enter the sub-account's username and password in Lemon Domains. INWX has no API keys; the API uses the normal login.

Open INWX API settings

Step 2

Add it to Lemon Domains

  1. 1Sign in to Lemon Domains (it's free), open Connections and choose INWX.
  2. 2Give the connection a friendly name, like “INWX personal” or “INWX clients”. Connect each INWX account separately.
  3. 3Paste your inwx username and password.
  4. 4Click Test connection. Lemon Domains checks the API login and shows how many domains it can see, without saving anything.
  5. 5Tick the checkbox to confirm you understand the risks, pick the project new domains go into, and click Connect and import. Your domains appear straight away and sync once a day after that.
Step 3

What Lemon Domains reads

Synced once a day
  • Domain names (including internationalised names)
  • Status, such as active, expired or pending transfer
  • Expiry and registration dates
  • Whether auto-renew is on
  • Nameservers
  • Transfer lock
Read-only by design

Lemon Domains only ever sends read requests to INWX: each integration has a fixed list of read-only calls it may make, so it never renews, transfers or changes a domain. Your API login is encrypted at rest and never shown again.

If something goes wrong

INWX rejects the API login
Copy it again with no spaces at either end. Check the login is the API user, not a different account.
The key has an IP restriction
Lemon Domains connects from 2.31.94.66. Add it to the API login's allowed IPs, or remove the restriction.
Some domains are missing
Make sure the API login belongs to the INWX account (or sub-account) that holds those domains. Connect each account separately.

Rather not use an API login? Import by paste or CSV

Copy your list from the INWX portal, paste it into Lemon Domains, and you're done. Re-import any time to refresh. Paste or CSV import needs no INWX credentials at all.

Open your INWX domain list

  1. 1Open your INWX account at inwx.com and go to the domain list.
  2. 2If the list paginates, switch to "show all" or the largest page size so every INWX domain is visible.
  3. 3Copy the visible list, or export to CSV if INWX offers it from the account area.
  4. 4In Lemon Domains, click Import, paste the list or upload the CSV, and map the columns. Lemon Domains previews everything before it commits.
  5. 5Give the registrar account a friendly label (for example "INWX personal" or "INWX client work") so sub-accounts stay distinct.

Frequently asked questions

Does Lemon Domains support INWX domains?

Yes. Connect your INWX account with its API login and Lemon Domains syncs your domains automatically once a day. You can also import by pasting your domain list from the INWX dashboard or uploading a CSV export. Multiple INWX accounts are supported with friendly labels so sub-accounts stay distinct in the unified portfolio.

How do I get a INWX API login?

Sign in to INWX. We recommend creating a separate sub-account for Lemon Domains in your account settings and giving it only the right to view domains, if your account offers that. Leave two-factor authentication off for that sub-account, or note its 2FA shared secret (the text behind the QR code) when you set 2FA up. Enter the sub-account's username and password in Lemon Domains. INWX has no API keys; the API uses the normal login. INWX has no API keys or read-only tokens: the API logs in with a username and password. Use a dedicated sub-account limited to viewing domains, so the main account's password and 2FA are never shared.

Do I need to share my INWX password?

Only if you connect by API. INWX's API signs in with a username and password rather than an API key. INWX has no API keys or read-only tokens: the API logs in with a username and password. Use a dedicated sub-account limited to viewing domains, so the main account's password and 2FA are never shared. Credentials are encrypted at rest. Lemon Domains only ever sends read requests. If you would rather not, paste or CSV import needs no credentials at all.

Can I track multiple INWX accounts?

Yes. Add one connection per INWX account, each with its own friendly name. Personal and business logins, sub-accounts, and client accounts all sit side by side in one dashboard.

Does Lemon Domains renew my INWX domains?

No. Renewal still happens at INWX. Lemon Domains tracks expiry dates and auto-renew status so you know exactly when to act, but the renewal button stays at INWX.

Can AI assistants query my INWX domains?

Yes. The Lemon Domains MCP server lets ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor and any MCP client query your full portfolio, including INWX domains, in plain English. Choose read-only or read-and-write access for each token.

Is INWX ICANN-accredited?

Yes. INWX is on the ICANN list of accredited registrars, so it can register generic extensions such as .com directly with the registries.

What is INWX's IANA ID?

1420. The IANA registrar ID appears in the registrar field of a domain's public record, so it shows which registrar a domain is with.

Is there an MCP server for INWX domains?

Yes. Lemon Domains connects to INWX by API and serves your INWX domains through its remote MCP server, so Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and any MCP client can answer questions about them. It is independent of INWX and not affiliated with it, so the same connection also covers your domains at every other registrar.

Does INWX have an API?

Yes. Lemon Domains connects to INWX by API and syncs your domain list every day, with expiry dates and renewal settings. Your AI assistant can then answer questions about those domains through the Lemon Domains MCP server.

What domain extensions does INWX sell?
