Gandi MCP

Lemon Domains is the unofficial Gandi MCP server. Connect your Gandi account by API once, and Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or any MCP client can answer questions about your Gandi domains next to the domains you hold at every other registrar. Connections start read only, so your AI changes only what you allow.

  • “Which of my Gandi domains expire in the next 60 days?”
  • “Is auto-renew on for every domain at Gandi?”
  • “Did the nameservers change on any of my Gandi domains this week?”

Connect Gandi to Lemon Domains

Three steps: create a read-only API key at Gandi, add it to Lemon Domains, and your domains sync once a day from then on. Connect as many Gandi accounts as you have.

Step 1

Create a read-only API key at Gandi

Give it the least access you can

Gandi has no read-only domain permission. The narrowest is “See and renew domain names”, limited to one organization: it can renew domains but cannot change their settings, DNS, contacts or transfer them. Lemon Domains only reads.

  1. 1Sign in to Gandi and open Organizations → (your organization) → Personal Access Tokens, or your account's Authentication options → Personal Access Tokens.
  2. 2Create a token named “Lemon Domains” for the organization that owns your domains, and pick an expiry date.
  3. 3Under permissions, tick only “See and renew domain names”. Leave every other permission off.
  4. 4Copy the token. It is only shown once. Gandi tokens expire, so put a reminder in your calendar to replace it.

Open Gandi API settings

Step 2

Add it to Lemon Domains

  1. 1Sign in to Lemon Domains (it's free), open Connections and choose Gandi.
  2. 2Give the connection a friendly name, like “Gandi personal” or “Gandi clients”. Connect each Gandi account separately.
  3. 3Paste your personal access token.
  4. 4Click Test connection. Lemon Domains checks the API key and shows how many domains it can see, without saving anything.
  5. 5Tick the checkbox to confirm you understand the risks, pick the project new domains go into, and click Connect and import. Your domains appear straight away and sync once a day after that.
Step 3

What Lemon Domains reads

Synced once a day
  • Domain names (including internationalised names)
  • Status, such as active, expired or pending transfer
  • Expiry and registration dates
  • Whether auto-renew is on
  • Nameservers
  • Transfer lock
Read-only by design

Lemon Domains only ever sends read requests to Gandi: each integration has a fixed list of read-only calls it may make, so it never renews, transfers or changes a domain. Your API key is encrypted at rest and never shown again.

If something goes wrong

Gandi rejects the API key
Copy it again with no spaces at either end. Some registrars only show the secret once, so create a new key if you didn't save it.
The key has an IP restriction
Lemon Domains connects from 2.31.94.66. Add it to the API key's allowed IPs, or remove the restriction.
Some domains are missing
Make sure the API key belongs to the Gandi account (or sub-account) that holds those domains. Connect each account separately.

Rather not use an API key? Import by paste or CSV

Copy your list from the Gandi portal, paste it into Lemon Domains, and you're done. Re-import any time to refresh. Paste or CSV import needs no Gandi credentials at all.

Open your Gandi domain admin

  1. 1Open your Gandi account at gandi.net and go to the domain list.
  2. 2If the list paginates, switch to "show all" or the largest page size so every Gandi domain is visible.
  3. 3Copy the visible list, or export to CSV if Gandi offers it from the account area.
  4. 4In Lemon Domains, click Import, paste the list or upload the CSV, and map the columns. Lemon Domains previews everything before it commits.
  5. 5Give the registrar account a friendly label (for example "Gandi personal" or "Gandi client work") so sub-accounts stay distinct.

Frequently asked questions

Does Lemon Domains support Gandi domains?

Yes. Connect your Gandi account with an API key and Lemon Domains syncs your domains automatically once a day. You can also import by pasting your domain list from the Gandi dashboard or uploading a CSV export. Multiple Gandi accounts are supported with friendly labels so sub-accounts stay distinct in the unified portfolio.

How do I get a Gandi API key?

Sign in to Gandi and open Organizations → (your organization) → Personal Access Tokens, or your account's Authentication options → Personal Access Tokens. Create a token named “Lemon Domains” for the organization that owns your domains, and pick an expiry date. Under permissions, tick only “See and renew domain names”. Leave every other permission off. Copy the token. It is only shown once. Gandi tokens expire, so put a reminder in your calendar to replace it. Gandi has no read-only domain permission. The narrowest is “See and renew domain names”, limited to one organization: it can renew domains but cannot change their settings, DNS, contacts or transfer them. Lemon Domains only reads.

Do I need to share my Gandi password?

No. Connecting by API uses an API key you create at Gandi, not your password. Gandi has no read-only domain permission. The narrowest is “See and renew domain names”, limited to one organization: it can renew domains but cannot change their settings, DNS, contacts or transfer them. Lemon Domains only reads. Keys are encrypted at rest. Lemon Domains only ever sends read requests. Or skip the API and paste your list or upload a CSV.

Can I track multiple Gandi accounts?

Yes. Add one connection per Gandi account, each with its own friendly name. Personal and business logins, sub-accounts, and client accounts all sit side by side in one dashboard.

Does Lemon Domains renew my Gandi domains?

No. Renewal still happens at Gandi. Lemon Domains tracks expiry dates and auto-renew status so you know exactly when to act, but the renewal button stays at Gandi.

Can AI assistants query my Gandi domains?

Yes. The Lemon Domains MCP server lets ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor and any MCP client query your full portfolio, including Gandi domains, in plain English. Choose read-only or read-and-write access for each token.

Is Gandi ICANN-accredited?

Yes. Gandi is on the ICANN list of accredited registrars, so it can register generic extensions such as .com directly with the registries.

What is Gandi's IANA ID?

81. The IANA registrar ID appears in the registrar field of a domain's public record, so it shows which registrar a domain is with.

Is there an MCP server for Gandi domains?

Yes. Lemon Domains connects to Gandi by API and serves your Gandi domains through its remote MCP server, so Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and any MCP client can answer questions about them. It is independent of Gandi and not affiliated with it, so the same connection also covers your domains at every other registrar.

Does Gandi have an API?

Yes. Lemon Domains connects to Gandi by API and syncs your domain list every day, with expiry dates and renewal settings. Your AI assistant can then answer questions about those domains through the Lemon Domains MCP server.

What domain extensions does Gandi sell?

Gandi's price list has 933 extensions: 637 generic, 249 country-code and 47 second-level, as of October 2026. They include .com, .net, .org, .io, .ai, .co, .app, .dev, .xyz, .uk, .de and .eu. The full list is on this page.

Does Gandi include WHOIS privacy?

Yes. Gandi hides your contact details in the public record at no extra cost, for the extensions whose registry allows it. Some country-code extensions, such as .us, don't allow privacy at all.

How do I contact Gandi support?

Gandi offers support by live chat, email or tickets and help center (24 hours a day, 6 days a week).

What does Gandi offer besides domain names?

DNS hosting, Email hosting, Web hosting, SSL certificates and Website builder.

What do customers say about Gandi?

Gandi has a TrustScore 4.5 out of 5 from about 4,000 reviews on Trustpilot, as of October 2026. Lemon Domains doesn't collect or edit reviews; read them on Trustpilot.

How do I transfer a domain away from Gandi?

Open the domain and go to the Transfer out tab, which shows the authorization code and the transfer lock switch. Then give the code to the new registrar to start the transfer.
