1.Have you used it in the last 12 months? (a site, email, or active plan)

2.Would you buy it again today at the renewal price?

3.Is there a concrete plan for it in the next 12 months?

4.Does it have measurable inbound? (traffic, backlinks, email)

5.Is it your name, brand, or identity you would hate to lose?

Frequently asked questions

How does the drop-or-renew tool decide?

It weighs five signals: whether you have used the domain recently, whether you would buy it again at the renewal price, whether there is a concrete plan for it, whether it has measurable inbound (traffic, backlinks, email), and whether it is brand or identity you would hate to lose. Brand value or real inbound alone is enough to keep a domain. Otherwise the recommendation follows the weighted score.

Should I really drop domains?

If a domain is not used, not worth rebuying, and has no plan attached, you are paying a yearly subscription for nothing. Dropping it is the rational move. The exceptions are names tied to your brand or identity, and names with real inbound, which are worth keeping even when idle.

What is the difference between 'review' and 'drop'?

Review means borderline: turn off auto-renew, set a reminder, and make a deliberate call at renewal instead of paying on autopilot. Drop means the signals are clearly negative and you should let it expire, after turning off auto-renew and noting the date.

Can Lemon Domains help me act on this?

Yes. Tag each domain with a keep, review, or drop bucket in Lemon Domains, track expiry across every registrar, and surface review-bucket domains before they renew so the decision is always deliberate.
