Connect SiteHost to Lemon Domains
Three steps: create a read-only API key at SiteHost, add it to Lemon Domains, and your domains sync once a day from then on. Connect as many SiteHost accounts as you have.
Create a read-only API key at SiteHost
A SiteHost API key allowed only the domain (SRS) API calls. Lemon Domains only ever calls srs/list_domains with it.
- 1Sign in to the SiteHost Control Panel and open the API keys section (SiteHost's guide: kb.sitehost.nz/developers/api).
- 2Add a key named “Lemon Domains” and allow it the domain (SRS) API calls only.
- 3If you limit the key to certain IP addresses, allow the Lemon Domains IP address shown on the connect page.
- 4Copy the key, and your client ID (the number next to your client name), into the form in Lemon Domains.
Add it to Lemon Domains
- 1Sign in to Lemon Domains (it's free), open Connections and choose SiteHost.
- 2Give the connection a friendly name, like “SiteHost personal” or “SiteHost clients”. Connect each SiteHost account separately.
- 3Paste your client id and api key.
- 4Click Test connection. Lemon Domains checks the API key and shows how many domains it can see, without saving anything.
- 5Tick the checkbox to confirm you understand the risks, pick the project new domains go into, and click Connect and import. Your domains appear straight away and sync once a day after that.
What Lemon Domains reads
- Domain names (including internationalised names)
- Status, such as active, expired or pending transfer
- Expiry and registration dates
- Whether auto-renew is on
- Transfer lock
- WHOIS privacy
Lemon Domains only ever sends read requests to SiteHost: each integration has a fixed list of read-only calls it may make, so it never renews, transfers or changes a domain. Your API key is encrypted at rest and never shown again.
If something goes wrong
- SiteHost rejects the API key
- Copy it again with no spaces at either end. Some registrars only show the secret once, so create a new key if you didn't save it.
- The key has an IP restriction
- Lemon Domains connects from 2.31.94.66. Add it to the API key's allowed IPs, or remove the restriction.
- Some domains are missing
- Make sure the API key belongs to the SiteHost account (or sub-account) that holds those domains. Connect each account separately.
Rather not use an API key? Import by paste or CSV
Copy your list from the SiteHost portal, paste it into Lemon Domains, and you're done. Re-import any time to refresh.
Open the SiteHost Control Panel
- 1Open your SiteHost account at sitehost.nz and go to the domain list.
- 2If the list paginates, switch to "show all" or the largest page size so every SiteHost domain is visible.
- 3Copy the visible list, or export to CSV if SiteHost offers it from the account area.
- 4In Lemon Domains, click Import, paste the list or upload the CSV, and map the columns. Lemon Domains previews everything before it commits.
- 5Give the registrar account a friendly label (for example "SiteHost personal" or "SiteHost client work") so sub-accounts stay distinct.
- Paste or CSV import needs no SiteHost credentials at all.
- SiteHost sub-accounts are supported. Add one Lemon Domains entry per SiteHost account with its own label.
How SiteHost fits into Lemon Domains
Pulled into one dashboard
Every SiteHost domain you own sits next to your domains from every other registrar. Same list, same search.
Expiry tracking, finally
Lemon Domains shows live expiry countdowns and filters by expiry window (under 30 days, 31-90 days, later) for every SiteHost domain so you stop missing renewals.
Daily sync by API
Connect SiteHost with an API key and Lemon Domains syncs your domains once a day. Hit Sync now whenever you want a fresh copy.
Why Lemon Domains beats the SiteHost dashboard
- Every SiteHost domain in one sortable list, no pagination
- Live expiry countdowns and 30 and 90 day expiry windows, not just a date column
- Project folders for client work, brands, and experiments
- Multiple SiteHost accounts with friendly labels, side by side
- Daily sync by API, plus a Sync now button
- Unified view with GoDaddy, Porkbun, Namecheap, and every other registrar
- MCP server access so your AI assistant can answer SiteHost portfolio questions
Ask your AI assistant about your SiteHost domains
Connect the Lemon Domains MCP server to Claude Code, Cursor, or any MCP client that can send a Bearer header. "What SiteHost domains do I have expiring this month?" becomes a one-line question.
SiteHost + Lemon Domains FAQ
Does Lemon Domains support SiteHost domains?
Yes. Connect your SiteHost account with an API key and Lemon Domains syncs your domains automatically once a day. You can also import by pasting your domain list from the SiteHost dashboard or uploading a CSV export. Multiple SiteHost accounts are supported with friendly labels so sub-accounts stay distinct in the unified portfolio.
How is this different from the SiteHost dashboard?
SiteHost is an established registrar, but its built-in dashboard is account-scoped and not designed for portfolio thinking. Lemon Domains puts every SiteHost domain into one searchable, sortable list, adds live expiry countdowns, expiry window filters (under 30 days, 31-90 days, later), and project folders, and unifies SiteHost with every other registrar you use.
Do I need to share my SiteHost password?
No. Connecting by API uses an API key you create at SiteHost, not your password. A SiteHost API key allowed only the domain (SRS) API calls. Lemon Domains only ever calls srs/list_domains with it. Keys are encrypted at rest, and Lemon Domains only ever sends read requests. Or skip the API and paste your list or upload a CSV.
Can I track multiple SiteHost accounts?
Yes. Add one connection per SiteHost account, each with its own friendly name. Personal and business logins, sub-accounts, and client accounts all sit side by side in one dashboard.
Does Lemon Domains renew my SiteHost domains?
No. Renewal still happens at SiteHost. Lemon Domains tracks expiry dates and auto-renew status so you know exactly when to act, but the renewal button stays at SiteHost.
Can AI assistants query my SiteHost domains?
Yes. The Lemon Domains MCP server lets Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, and any MCP client that can send a Bearer header query your full portfolio, including SiteHost domains, in plain English. Choose read-only or read-and-write access for each token.
