Connect Shellrent to Lemon Domains

Three steps: create a read-only API key at Shellrent, add it to Lemon Domains, and your domains sync once a day from then on. Connect as many Shellrent accounts as you have.

Step 1

Create a read-only API key at Shellrent

Give it the least access you can

Shellrent API clients have scopes. Give this client only the read scope for domains (and not domains:secrets); its tokens can then list domains and nothing else.

  1. 1Sign in to the Shellrent Manager and open the API section of your profile.
  2. 2Create an API client named “Lemon Domains” and give it only the read scope for domains. Leave out domains:secrets, so transfer codes are never shared.
  3. 3If you limit the key to certain IP addresses, allow the Lemon Domains IP address shown on the connect page.
  4. 4Copy the client ID and the client secret into the fields in Lemon Domains. The secret is only shown once.

Open Shellrent API settings

Step 2

Add it to Lemon Domains

  1. 1Sign in to Lemon Domains (it's free), open Connections and choose Shellrent.
  2. 2Give the connection a friendly name, like “Shellrent personal” or “Shellrent clients”. Connect each Shellrent account separately.
  3. 3Paste your client id and client secret.
  4. 4Click Test connection. Lemon Domains checks the API key and shows how many domains it can see, without saving anything.
  5. 5Tick the checkbox to confirm you understand the risks, pick the project new domains go into, and click Connect and import. Your domains appear straight away and sync once a day after that.
Step 3

What Lemon Domains reads

Synced once a day
  • Domain names (including internationalised names)
  • Status, such as active, expired or pending transfer
  • Expiry and registration dates
  • Nameservers
  • Transfer lock
Read-only by design

Lemon Domains only ever sends read requests to Shellrent: each integration has a fixed list of read-only calls it may make, so it never renews, transfers or changes a domain. Your API key is encrypted at rest and never shown again.

If something goes wrong

Shellrent rejects the API key
Copy it again with no spaces at either end. Some registrars only show the secret once, so create a new key if you didn't save it.
The key has an IP restriction
Lemon Domains connects from 2.31.94.66. Add it to the API key's allowed IPs, or remove the restriction.
Some domains are missing
Make sure the API key belongs to the Shellrent account (or sub-account) that holds those domains. Connect each account separately.

Rather not use an API key? Import by paste or CSV

Copy your list from the Shellrent portal, paste it into Lemon Domains, and you're done. Re-import any time to refresh.

Open the Shellrent Manager

  1. 1Open your Shellrent account at shellrent.com and go to the domain list.
  2. 2If the list paginates, switch to "show all" or the largest page size so every Shellrent domain is visible.
  3. 3Copy the visible list, or export to CSV if Shellrent offers it from the account area.
  4. 4In Lemon Domains, click Import, paste the list or upload the CSV, and map the columns. Lemon Domains previews everything before it commits.
  5. 5Give the registrar account a friendly label (for example "Shellrent personal" or "Shellrent client work") so sub-accounts stay distinct.
Heads up
  • Paste or CSV import needs no Shellrent credentials at all.
  • Shellrent sub-accounts are supported. Add one Lemon Domains entry per Shellrent account with its own label.

How Shellrent fits into Lemon Domains

Pulled into one dashboard

Every Shellrent domain you own sits next to your domains from every other registrar. Same list, same search.

Expiry tracking, finally

Lemon Domains shows live expiry countdowns and filters by expiry window (under 30 days, 31-90 days, later) for every Shellrent domain so you stop missing renewals.

Daily sync by API

Connect Shellrent with an API key and Lemon Domains syncs your domains once a day. Hit Sync now whenever you want a fresh copy.

Why Lemon Domains beats the Shellrent dashboard

  • Every Shellrent domain in one sortable list, no pagination
  • Live expiry countdowns and 30 and 90 day expiry windows, not just a date column
  • Project folders for client work, brands, and experiments
  • Multiple Shellrent accounts with friendly labels, side by side
  • Daily sync by API, plus a Sync now button
  • Unified view with GoDaddy, Porkbun, Namecheap, and every other registrar
  • MCP server access so your AI assistant can answer Shellrent portfolio questions

Ask your AI assistant about your Shellrent domains

Connect the Lemon Domains MCP server to Claude Code, Cursor, or any MCP client that can send a Bearer header. "What Shellrent domains do I have expiring this month?" becomes a one-line question.

Shellrent + Lemon Domains FAQ

Does Lemon Domains support Shellrent domains?

Yes. Connect your Shellrent account with an API key and Lemon Domains syncs your domains automatically once a day. You can also import by pasting your domain list from the Shellrent dashboard or uploading a CSV export. Multiple Shellrent accounts are supported with friendly labels so sub-accounts stay distinct in the unified portfolio.

How is this different from the Shellrent dashboard?

Shellrent is an established registrar, but its built-in dashboard is account-scoped and not designed for portfolio thinking. Lemon Domains puts every Shellrent domain into one searchable, sortable list, adds live expiry countdowns, expiry window filters (under 30 days, 31-90 days, later), and project folders, and unifies Shellrent with every other registrar you use.

Do I need to share my Shellrent password?

No. Connecting by API uses an API key you create at Shellrent, not your password. Shellrent API clients have scopes. Give this client only the read scope for domains (and not domains:secrets); its tokens can then list domains and nothing else. Keys are encrypted at rest, and Lemon Domains only ever sends read requests. Or skip the API and paste your list or upload a CSV.

Can I track multiple Shellrent accounts?

Yes. Add one connection per Shellrent account, each with its own friendly name. Personal and business logins, sub-accounts, and client accounts all sit side by side in one dashboard.

Does Lemon Domains renew my Shellrent domains?

No. Renewal still happens at Shellrent. Lemon Domains tracks expiry dates and auto-renew status so you know exactly when to act, but the renewal button stays at Shellrent.

Can AI assistants query my Shellrent domains?

Yes. The Lemon Domains MCP server lets Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, and any MCP client that can send a Bearer header query your full portfolio, including Shellrent domains, in plain English. Choose read-only or read-and-write access for each token.
