Connect OpusDNS to Lemon Domains
Three steps: create a read-only API key at OpusDNS, add it to Lemon Domains, and your domains sync once a day from then on. Connect as many OpusDNS accounts as you have.
Create a read-only API key at OpusDNS
An OpusDNS API key with the Viewer role. It can read your domains and change nothing; Lemon Domains only ever lists them.
- 1Sign in to the OpusDNS dashboard and open Developer → API Credentials.
- 2Create a new API key named “Lemon Domains” and give it the Viewer role.
- 3Copy the key (it starts with opk_). It is only shown once.
- 4If you limit the key to certain IP addresses, allow the Lemon Domains IP address shown on the connect page.
Add it to Lemon Domains
- 1Sign in to Lemon Domains (it's free), open Connections and choose OpusDNS.
- 2Give the connection a friendly name, like “OpusDNS personal” or “OpusDNS clients”. Connect each OpusDNS account separately.
- 3Paste your api key.
- 4Click Test connection. Lemon Domains checks the API key and shows how many domains it can see, without saving anything.
- 5Tick the checkbox to confirm you understand the risks, pick the project new domains go into, and click Connect and import. Your domains appear straight away and sync once a day after that.
What Lemon Domains reads
- Domain names (including internationalised names)
- Status, such as active, expired or pending transfer
- Expiry and registration dates
- Whether auto-renew is on
- Nameservers
- Transfer lock
Lemon Domains only ever sends read requests to OpusDNS: each integration has a fixed list of read-only calls it may make, so it never renews, transfers or changes a domain. Your API key is encrypted at rest and never shown again.
If something goes wrong
- OpusDNS rejects the API key
- Copy it again with no spaces at either end. Some registrars only show the secret once, so create a new key if you didn't save it.
- The key has an IP restriction
- Lemon Domains connects from 2.31.94.66. Add it to the API key's allowed IPs, or remove the restriction.
- Some domains are missing
- Make sure the API key belongs to the OpusDNS account (or sub-account) that holds those domains. Connect each account separately.
Rather not use an API key? Import by paste or CSV
Copy your list from the OpusDNS portal, paste it into Lemon Domains, and you're done. Re-import any time to refresh.
- 1Open your OpusDNS account at opusdns.com and go to the domain list.
- 2If the list paginates, switch to "show all" or the largest page size so every OpusDNS domain is visible.
- 3Copy the visible list, or export to CSV if OpusDNS offers it from the account area.
- 4In Lemon Domains, click Import, paste the list or upload the CSV, and map the columns. Lemon Domains previews everything before it commits.
- 5Give the registrar account a friendly label (for example "OpusDNS personal" or "OpusDNS client work") so sub-accounts stay distinct.
- Paste or CSV import needs no OpusDNS credentials at all.
- OpusDNS sub-accounts are supported. Add one Lemon Domains entry per OpusDNS account with its own label.
How OpusDNS fits into Lemon Domains
Pulled into one dashboard
Every OpusDNS domain you own sits next to your domains from every other registrar. Same list, same search.
Expiry tracking, finally
Lemon Domains shows live expiry countdowns and filters by expiry window (under 30 days, 31-90 days, later) for every OpusDNS domain so you stop missing renewals.
Daily sync by API
Connect OpusDNS with an API key and Lemon Domains syncs your domains once a day. Hit Sync now whenever you want a fresh copy.
Why Lemon Domains beats the OpusDNS dashboard
- Every OpusDNS domain in one sortable list, no pagination
- Live expiry countdowns and 30 and 90 day expiry windows, not just a date column
- Project folders for client work, brands, and experiments
- Multiple OpusDNS accounts with friendly labels, side by side
- Daily sync by API, plus a Sync now button
- Unified view with GoDaddy, Porkbun, Namecheap, and every other registrar
- MCP server access so your AI assistant can answer OpusDNS portfolio questions
Ask your AI assistant about your OpusDNS domains
Connect the Lemon Domains MCP server to Claude Code, Cursor, or any MCP client that can send a Bearer header. "What OpusDNS domains do I have expiring this month?" becomes a one-line question.
OpusDNS + Lemon Domains FAQ
Does Lemon Domains support OpusDNS domains?
Yes. Connect your OpusDNS account with an API key and Lemon Domains syncs your domains automatically once a day. You can also import by pasting your domain list from the OpusDNS dashboard or uploading a CSV export. Multiple OpusDNS accounts are supported with friendly labels so sub-accounts stay distinct in the unified portfolio.
How is this different from the OpusDNS dashboard?
OpusDNS is an established registrar, but its built-in dashboard is account-scoped and not designed for portfolio thinking. Lemon Domains puts every OpusDNS domain into one searchable, sortable list, adds live expiry countdowns, expiry window filters (under 30 days, 31-90 days, later), and project folders, and unifies OpusDNS with every other registrar you use.
Do I need to share my OpusDNS password?
No. Connecting by API uses an API key you create at OpusDNS, not your password. An OpusDNS API key with the Viewer role. It can read your domains and change nothing; Lemon Domains only ever lists them. Keys are encrypted at rest, and Lemon Domains only ever sends read requests. Or skip the API and paste your list or upload a CSV.
Can I track multiple OpusDNS accounts?
Yes. Add one connection per OpusDNS account, each with its own friendly name. Personal and business logins, sub-accounts, and client accounts all sit side by side in one dashboard.
Does Lemon Domains renew my OpusDNS domains?
No. Renewal still happens at OpusDNS. Lemon Domains tracks expiry dates and auto-renew status so you know exactly when to act, but the renewal button stays at OpusDNS.
Can AI assistants query my OpusDNS domains?
Yes. The Lemon Domains MCP server lets Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, and any MCP client that can send a Bearer header query your full portfolio, including OpusDNS domains, in plain English. Choose read-only or read-and-write access for each token.
