Connect Openprovider to Lemon Domains
Three steps: create a read-only API login at Openprovider, add it to Lemon Domains, and your domains sync once a day from then on. Connect as many Openprovider accounts as you have.
Create a read-only API login at Openprovider
Openprovider has no read-only API keys or roles; the API uses a control-panel user's password. Create a dedicated user just for Lemon Domains. Lemon Domains only ever logs in and lists domains.
Any Openprovider account (a free reseller account works).
- 1Sign in to the Openprovider control panel.
- 2Create a separate user (contact) for Lemon Domains and give it API access, so you can disable it on its own later.
- 3Openprovider can restrict API logins to whitelisted IP addresses (the API IP whitelist in the user's settings). While that whitelist is empty, it accepts logins from any IP.
- 4If you limit the key to certain IP addresses, allow the Lemon Domains IP address shown on the connect page.
- 5Enter that user's username and password in Lemon Domains.
Add it to Lemon Domains
- 1Sign in to Lemon Domains (it's free), open Connections and choose Openprovider.
- 2Give the connection a friendly name, like “Openprovider personal” or “Openprovider clients”. Connect each Openprovider account separately.
- 3Paste your username and password.
- 4Click Test connection. Lemon Domains checks the API login and shows how many domains it can see, without saving anything.
- 5Tick the checkbox to confirm you understand the risks, pick the project new domains go into, and click Connect and import. Your domains appear straight away and sync once a day after that.
What Lemon Domains reads
- Domain names (including internationalised names)
- Status, such as active, expired or pending transfer
- Expiry and registration dates
- Whether auto-renew is on
- Nameservers
- Transfer lock
- WHOIS privacy
Lemon Domains only ever sends read requests to Openprovider: each integration has a fixed list of read-only calls it may make, so it never renews, transfers or changes a domain. Your API login is encrypted at rest and never shown again.
If something goes wrong
- Openprovider rejects the API login
- Copy it again with no spaces at either end. Check the login is the API user, not a different account.
- The key has an IP restriction
- Lemon Domains connects from 2.31.94.66. Add it to the API login's allowed IPs, or remove the restriction.
- Some domains are missing
- Make sure the API login belongs to the Openprovider account (or sub-account) that holds those domains. Connect each account separately.
Rather not use an API login? Import by paste or CSV
Copy your list from the Openprovider portal, paste it into Lemon Domains, and you're done. Re-import any time to refresh.
Open the Openprovider control panel
- 1Open your Openprovider account at openprovider.com and go to the domain list.
- 2If the list paginates, switch to "show all" or the largest page size so every Openprovider domain is visible.
- 3Copy the visible list, or export to CSV if Openprovider offers it from the account area.
- 4In Lemon Domains, click Import, paste the list or upload the CSV, and map the columns. Lemon Domains previews everything before it commits.
- 5Give the registrar account a friendly label (for example "Openprovider personal" or "Openprovider client work") so sub-accounts stay distinct.
- Paste or CSV import needs no Openprovider credentials at all.
- Openprovider sub-accounts are supported. Add one Lemon Domains entry per Openprovider account with its own label.

Do I need to share my Openprovider password?
Only if you connect by API. Openprovider's API signs in with a username and password rather than an API key. Openprovider has no read-only API keys or roles; the API uses a control-panel user's password. Create a dedicated user just for Lemon Domains. Lemon Domains only ever logs in and lists domains. Credentials are encrypted at rest, and Lemon Domains only ever sends read requests. If you would rather not, paste or CSV import needs no credentials at all.
Can I track multiple Openprovider accounts?

Does Lemon Domains renew my Openprovider domains?
