Connect Njalla to Lemon Domains
Three steps: create a read-only API key at Njalla, add it to Lemon Domains, and your domains sync once a day from then on. Connect as many Njalla accounts as you have.
Create a read-only API key at Njalla
Njalla API tokens cannot be limited to read-only; a token can use the whole API for your account. Create a token just for Lemon Domains so you can remove it on its own. Lemon Domains only ever calls list-domains.
- 1Sign in to Njalla and open Settings → API.
- 2Add a new token with a comment like “Lemon Domains”.
- 3If you limit the key to certain IP addresses, allow the Lemon Domains IP address shown on the connect page.
- 4Copy the token and paste it in Lemon Domains.
Add it to Lemon Domains
- 1Sign in to Lemon Domains (it's free), open Connections and choose Njalla.
- 2Give the connection a friendly name, like “Njalla personal” or “Njalla clients”. Connect each Njalla account separately.
- 3Paste your api token.
- 4Click Test connection. Lemon Domains checks the API key and shows how many domains it can see, without saving anything.
- 5Tick the checkbox to confirm you understand the risks, pick the project new domains go into, and click Connect and import. Your domains appear straight away and sync once a day after that.
What Lemon Domains reads
- Domain names (including internationalised names)
- Status, such as active, expired or pending transfer
- Expiry and registration dates
- WHOIS privacy
Lemon Domains only ever sends read requests to Njalla: each integration has a fixed list of read-only calls it may make, so it never renews, transfers or changes a domain. Your API key is encrypted at rest and never shown again.
If something goes wrong
- Njalla rejects the API key
- Copy it again with no spaces at either end. Some registrars only show the secret once, so create a new key if you didn't save it.
- The key has an IP restriction
- Lemon Domains connects from 2.31.94.66. Add it to the API key's allowed IPs, or remove the restriction.
- Some domains are missing
- Make sure the API key belongs to the Njalla account (or sub-account) that holds those domains. Connect each account separately.
Rather not use an API key? Import by paste or CSV
Copy your list from the Njalla portal, paste it into Lemon Domains, and you're done. Re-import any time to refresh.
- 1Open your Njalla account at njal.la and go to the domain list.
- 2If the list paginates, switch to "show all" or the largest page size so every Njalla domain is visible.
- 3Copy the visible list, or export to CSV if Njalla offers it from the account area.
- 4In Lemon Domains, click Import, paste the list or upload the CSV, and map the columns. Lemon Domains previews everything before it commits.
- 5Give the registrar account a friendly label (for example "Njalla personal" or "Njalla client work") so sub-accounts stay distinct.
- Paste or CSV import needs no Njalla credentials at all.
- Njalla sub-accounts are supported. Add one Lemon Domains entry per Njalla account with its own label.
How Njalla fits into Lemon Domains
Pulled into one dashboard
Every Njalla domain you own sits next to your domains from every other registrar. Same list, same search.
Expiry tracking, finally
Lemon Domains shows live expiry countdowns and filters by expiry window (under 30 days, 31-90 days, later) for every Njalla domain so you stop missing renewals.
Daily sync by API
Connect Njalla with an API key and Lemon Domains syncs your domains once a day. Hit Sync now whenever you want a fresh copy.
Why Lemon Domains beats the Njalla dashboard
- Every Njalla domain in one sortable list, no pagination
- Live expiry countdowns and 30 and 90 day expiry windows, not just a date column
- Project folders for client work, brands, and experiments
- Multiple Njalla accounts with friendly labels, side by side
- Daily sync by API, plus a Sync now button
- Unified view with GoDaddy, Porkbun, Namecheap, and every other registrar
- MCP server access so your AI assistant can answer Njalla portfolio questions
Ask your AI assistant about your Njalla domains
Connect the Lemon Domains MCP server to Claude Code, Cursor, or any MCP client that can send a Bearer header. "What Njalla domains do I have expiring this month?" becomes a one-line question.
Njalla + Lemon Domains FAQ
Does Lemon Domains support Njalla domains?
Yes. Connect your Njalla account with an API key and Lemon Domains syncs your domains automatically once a day. You can also import by pasting your domain list from the Njalla dashboard or uploading a CSV export. Multiple Njalla accounts are supported with friendly labels so sub-accounts stay distinct in the unified portfolio.
How is this different from the Njalla dashboard?
Njalla has been registering domains since 2017, but its built-in dashboard is account-scoped and not designed for portfolio thinking. Lemon Domains puts every Njalla domain into one searchable, sortable list, adds live expiry countdowns, expiry window filters (under 30 days, 31-90 days, later), and project folders, and unifies Njalla with every other registrar you use.
Do I need to share my Njalla password?
No. Connecting by API uses an API key you create at Njalla, not your password. Njalla API tokens cannot be limited to read-only; a token can use the whole API for your account. Create a token just for Lemon Domains so you can remove it on its own. Lemon Domains only ever calls list-domains. Keys are encrypted at rest, and Lemon Domains only ever sends read requests. Or skip the API and paste your list or upload a CSV.
Can I track multiple Njalla accounts?
Yes. Add one connection per Njalla account, each with its own friendly name. Personal and business logins, sub-accounts, and client accounts all sit side by side in one dashboard.
Does Lemon Domains renew my Njalla domains?
No. Renewal still happens at Njalla. Lemon Domains tracks expiry dates and auto-renew status so you know exactly when to act, but the renewal button stays at Njalla.
Can AI assistants query my Njalla domains?
Yes. The Lemon Domains MCP server lets Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, and any MCP client that can send a Bearer header query your full portfolio, including Njalla domains, in plain English. Choose read-only or read-and-write access for each token.
