Connect Metaregistrar to Lemon Domains
Three steps: create a read-only API key at Metaregistrar, add it to Lemon Domains, and your domains sync once a day from then on. Connect as many Metaregistrar accounts as you have.
Create a read-only API key at Metaregistrar
A Metaregistrar API key with only the domain list (view) permission. Metaregistrar keys carry per-endpoint permissions, so this key can read your portfolio and change nothing.
Metaregistrar API keys are available to every Metaregistrar account holder.
- 1Sign in to the Metaregistrar control panel and open API keys.
- 2Create a new key named “Lemon Domains” and give it only the permission to view (list) domains.
- 3Add the Lemon Domains IP address shown on this page to the key's IP whitelist.
- 4Copy the key and enter it in Lemon Domains.
Add it to Lemon Domains
- 1Sign in to Lemon Domains (it's free), open Connections and choose Metaregistrar.
- 2Give the connection a friendly name, like “Metaregistrar personal” or “Metaregistrar clients”. Connect each Metaregistrar account separately.
- 3Paste your api key.
- 4Click Test connection. Lemon Domains checks the API key and shows how many domains it can see, without saving anything.
- 5Tick the checkbox to confirm you understand the risks, pick the project new domains go into, and click Connect and import. Your domains appear straight away and sync once a day after that.
What Lemon Domains reads
- Domain names (including internationalised names)
- Status, such as active, expired or pending transfer
- Expiry and registration dates
- Whether auto-renew is on
- Transfer lock
Lemon Domains only ever sends read requests to Metaregistrar: each integration has a fixed list of read-only calls it may make, so it never renews, transfers or changes a domain. Your API key is encrypted at rest and never shown again.
If something goes wrong
- Metaregistrar rejects the API key
- Copy it again with no spaces at either end. Some registrars only show the secret once, so create a new key if you didn't save it.
- Metaregistrar rejects calls from Lemon Domains' IP address
- Lemon Domains connects from 2.31.94.66. Add it to the API key's allowed IPs at Metaregistrar.
- Some domains are missing
- Make sure the API key belongs to the Metaregistrar account (or sub-account) that holds those domains. Connect each account separately.
Rather not use an API key? Import by paste or CSV
Copy your list from the Metaregistrar portal, paste it into Lemon Domains, and you're done. Re-import any time to refresh.
Open the Metaregistrar control panel
- 1Open your Metaregistrar account at metaregistrar.com and go to the domain list.
- 2If the list paginates, switch to "show all" or the largest page size so every Metaregistrar domain is visible.
- 3Copy the visible list, or export to CSV if Metaregistrar offers it from the account area.
- 4In Lemon Domains, click Import, paste the list or upload the CSV, and map the columns. Lemon Domains previews everything before it commits.
- 5Give the registrar account a friendly label (for example "Metaregistrar personal" or "Metaregistrar client work") so sub-accounts stay distinct.
- Paste or CSV import needs no Metaregistrar credentials at all.
- Metaregistrar sub-accounts are supported. Add one Lemon Domains entry per Metaregistrar account with its own label.
How Metaregistrar fits into Lemon Domains
Pulled into one dashboard
Every Metaregistrar domain you own sits next to your domains from every other registrar. Same list, same search.
Expiry tracking, finally
Lemon Domains shows live expiry countdowns and filters by expiry window (under 30 days, 31-90 days, later) for every Metaregistrar domain so you stop missing renewals.
Daily sync by API
Connect Metaregistrar with an API key and Lemon Domains syncs your domains once a day. Hit Sync now whenever you want a fresh copy.
Why Lemon Domains beats the Metaregistrar dashboard
- Every Metaregistrar domain in one sortable list, no pagination
- Live expiry countdowns and 30 and 90 day expiry windows, not just a date column
- Project folders for client work, brands, and experiments
- Multiple Metaregistrar accounts with friendly labels, side by side
- Daily sync by API, plus a Sync now button
- Unified view with GoDaddy, Porkbun, Namecheap, and every other registrar
- MCP server access so your AI assistant can answer Metaregistrar portfolio questions
Ask your AI assistant about your Metaregistrar domains
Connect the Lemon Domains MCP server to Claude Code, Cursor, or any MCP client that can send a Bearer header. "What Metaregistrar domains do I have expiring this month?" becomes a one-line question.
Metaregistrar + Lemon Domains FAQ
Does Lemon Domains support Metaregistrar domains?
Yes. Connect your Metaregistrar account with an API key and Lemon Domains syncs your domains automatically once a day. Metaregistrar API keys are available to every Metaregistrar account holder. You can also import by pasting your domain list from the Metaregistrar dashboard or uploading a CSV export. Multiple Metaregistrar accounts are supported with friendly labels so sub-accounts stay distinct in the unified portfolio.
How is this different from the Metaregistrar dashboard?
Metaregistrar is an established registrar, but its built-in dashboard is account-scoped and not designed for portfolio thinking. Lemon Domains puts every Metaregistrar domain into one searchable, sortable list, adds live expiry countdowns, expiry window filters (under 30 days, 31-90 days, later), and project folders, and unifies Metaregistrar with every other registrar you use.
Do I need to share my Metaregistrar password?
No. Connecting by API uses an API key you create at Metaregistrar, not your password. A Metaregistrar API key with only the domain list (view) permission. Metaregistrar keys carry per-endpoint permissions, so this key can read your portfolio and change nothing. Keys are encrypted at rest, and Lemon Domains only ever sends read requests. Or skip the API and paste your list or upload a CSV.
Can I track multiple Metaregistrar accounts?
Yes. Add one connection per Metaregistrar account, each with its own friendly name. Personal and business logins, sub-accounts, and client accounts all sit side by side in one dashboard.
Does Lemon Domains renew my Metaregistrar domains?
No. Renewal still happens at Metaregistrar. Lemon Domains tracks expiry dates and auto-renew status so you know exactly when to act, but the renewal button stays at Metaregistrar.
Can AI assistants query my Metaregistrar domains?
Yes. The Lemon Domains MCP server lets Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, and any MCP client that can send a Bearer header query your full portfolio, including Metaregistrar domains, in plain English. Choose read-only or read-and-write access for each token.
