Setup guide

Connect Google Cloud Domains to Lemon Domains

Three steps: create a read-only API key at Google Cloud Domains, add it to Lemon Domains, and your domains sync once a day from then on. Connect as many Google Cloud Domains accounts as you have.

Step 1

Create a read-only API key at Google Cloud Domains

Give it the least access you can

A service account with only the Cloud Domains Viewer role (roles/domains.viewer), which can list and read registrations but not change them.

  1. 1In the Google Cloud console, open the project that holds your Cloud Domains registrations, then IAM & Admin → Service accounts → Create service account. Name it “lemon-domains”.
  2. 2Grant it the role Cloud Domains Viewer (roles/domains.viewer) and finish.
  3. 3Open the new service account → Keys → Add key → Create new key → JSON. A key file downloads.
  4. 4Open the file in a text editor and paste its whole contents in Lemon Domains. Make sure the Cloud Domains API is enabled for the project.

Open Google Cloud Domains API settings

Step 2

Add it to Lemon Domains

  1. 1Sign in to Lemon Domains (it's free), open Connections and choose Google Cloud Domains.
  2. 2Give the connection a friendly name, like “Google Cloud Domains personal” or “Google Cloud Domains clients”. Connect each Google Cloud Domains account separately.
  3. 3Paste your service account key (json).
  4. 4Click Test connection. Lemon Domains checks the API key and shows how many domains it can see, without saving anything.
  5. 5Tick the checkbox to confirm you understand the risks, pick the project new domains go into, and click Connect and import. Your domains appear straight away and sync once a day after that.
Step 3

What Lemon Domains reads

Synced once a day
  • Domain names (including internationalised names)
  • Status, such as active, expired or pending transfer
  • Expiry and registration dates
  • Whether auto-renew is on
  • Nameservers
  • Transfer lock
  • WHOIS privacy
Read-only by design

Lemon Domains only ever sends read requests to Google Cloud Domains: each integration has a fixed list of read-only calls it may make, so it never renews, transfers or changes a domain. Your API key is encrypted at rest and never shown again.

If something goes wrong

Google Cloud Domains rejects the API key
Copy it again with no spaces at either end. Some registrars only show the secret once, so create a new key if you didn't save it.
The key has an IP restriction
Lemon Domains connects from 2.31.94.66. Add it to the API key's allowed IPs, or remove the restriction.
Some domains are missing
Make sure the API key belongs to the Google Cloud Domains account (or sub-account) that holds those domains. Connect each account separately.

Rather not use an API key? Import by paste or CSV

Copy your list from the Google Cloud Domains portal, paste it into Lemon Domains, and you're done. Re-import any time to refresh.

Open Cloud Domains

  1. 1Open your Google Cloud Domains account at cloud.google.com and go to the domain list.
  2. 2If the list paginates, switch to "show all" or the largest page size so every Google Cloud Domains domain is visible.
  3. 3Copy the visible list, or export to CSV if Google Cloud Domains offers it from the account area.
  4. 4In Lemon Domains, click Import, paste the list or upload the CSV, and map the columns. Lemon Domains previews everything before it commits.
  5. 5Give the registrar account a friendly label (for example "Google Cloud Domains personal" or "Google Cloud Domains client work") so sub-accounts stay distinct.
Heads up
  • Paste or CSV import needs no Google Cloud Domains credentials at all.
  • Google Cloud Domains sub-accounts are supported. Add one Lemon Domains entry per Google Cloud Domains account with its own label.

How Google Cloud Domains fits into Lemon Domains

Pulled into one dashboard

Every Google Cloud Domains domain you own sits next to your domains from every other registrar. Same list, same search.

Expiry tracking, finally

Lemon Domains shows live expiry countdowns and filters by expiry window (under 30 days, 31-90 days, later) for every Google Cloud Domains domain so you stop missing renewals.

Daily sync by API

Connect Google Cloud Domains with an API key and Lemon Domains syncs your domains once a day. Hit Sync now whenever you want a fresh copy.

Why Lemon Domains beats the Google Cloud Domains dashboard

  • Every Google Cloud Domains domain in one sortable list, no pagination
  • Live expiry countdowns and 30 and 90 day expiry windows, not just a date column
  • Project folders for client work, brands, and experiments
  • Multiple Google Cloud Domains accounts with friendly labels, side by side
  • Daily sync by API, plus a Sync now button
  • Unified view with GoDaddy, Porkbun, Namecheap, and every other registrar
  • MCP server access so your AI assistant can answer Google Cloud Domains portfolio questions

Ask your AI assistant about your Google Cloud Domains domains

Connect the Lemon Domains MCP server to Claude Code, Cursor, or any MCP client that can send a Bearer header. "What Google Cloud Domains domains do I have expiring this month?" becomes a one-line question.

Google Cloud Domains + Lemon Domains FAQ

Does Lemon Domains support Google Cloud Domains domains?

Yes. Connect your Google Cloud Domains account with an API key and Lemon Domains syncs your domains automatically once a day. You can also import by pasting your domain list from the Google Cloud Domains dashboard or uploading a CSV export. Multiple Google Cloud Domains accounts are supported with friendly labels so sub-accounts stay distinct in the unified portfolio.

How is this different from the Google Cloud Domains dashboard?

Google Cloud Domains is an established registrar, but its built-in dashboard is account-scoped and not designed for portfolio thinking. Lemon Domains puts every Google Cloud Domains domain into one searchable, sortable list, adds live expiry countdowns, expiry window filters (under 30 days, 31-90 days, later), and project folders, and unifies Google Cloud Domains with every other registrar you use.

Do I need to share my Google Cloud Domains password?

No. Connecting by API uses an API key you create at Google Cloud Domains, not your password. A service account with only the Cloud Domains Viewer role (roles/domains.viewer), which can list and read registrations but not change them. Keys are encrypted at rest, and Lemon Domains only ever sends read requests. Or skip the API and paste your list or upload a CSV.

Can I track multiple Google Cloud Domains accounts?

Yes. Add one connection per Google Cloud Domains account, each with its own friendly name. Personal and business logins, sub-accounts, and client accounts all sit side by side in one dashboard.

Does Lemon Domains renew my Google Cloud Domains domains?

No. Renewal still happens at Google Cloud Domains. Lemon Domains tracks expiry dates and auto-renew status so you know exactly when to act, but the renewal button stays at Google Cloud Domains.

Can AI assistants query my Google Cloud Domains domains?

Yes. The Lemon Domains MCP server lets Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, and any MCP client that can send a Bearer header query your full portfolio, including Google Cloud Domains domains, in plain English. Choose read-only or read-and-write access for each token.
