Connect Dynadot to Lemon Domains
Three steps: create a read-only API key at Dynadot, add it to Lemon Domains, and your domains sync once a day from then on. Connect as many Dynadot accounts as you have.
Create a read-only API key at Dynadot
A Restricted API Key with Domains set to Read can only read your domains, which is all Lemon Domains needs. The Production Key has full access to your account. Either key only works from the IP addresses you allow. If a key leaks, delete it under Tools → API.
- 1Sign in to Dynadot and open Tools → API (the link above goes straight there). If Dynadot asks you to unlock your account, do that first.
- 2Under Restricted API Key, click Create key. Any Key Name works, for example "Lemon Domains".
- 3In that key's IP Whitelist, add the Lemon Domains IP address shown on this page. This list belongs to the key, so add it in Lemon Domains even if the account's own IP list already has it.
- 4Set Domains to Read. Leave every other permission at None, then Save.
- 5Copy the new key into API key and its Secret Key into Secret key. Use Dynadot's copy buttons so no spaces or extra characters come along. A restricted key needs both.
- 6Tick the checkbox and click Test connection. If Dynadot says the key is invalid, wait a few minutes and test again: new keys can take a little while to start working.
- 7Still invalid? Check the IP Whitelist and the Domains permission on the key, or delete the key and create a fresh one.
- 8Using the Production Key instead? Add the Lemon Domains IP address under the account's IP list, paste the Production Key into API key, and leave Secret key empty.
Add it to Lemon Domains
- 1Sign in to Lemon Domains (it's free), open Connections and choose Dynadot.
- 2Give the connection a friendly name, like “Dynadot personal” or “Dynadot clients”. Connect each Dynadot account separately.
- 3Paste your api key.
- 4Click Test connection. Lemon Domains checks the API key and shows how many domains it can see, without saving anything.
- 5Tick the checkbox to confirm you understand the risks, pick the project new domains go into, and click Connect and import. Your domains appear straight away and sync once a day after that.
What Lemon Domains reads
- Domain names (including internationalised names)
- Status, such as active, expired or pending transfer
- Expiry and registration dates
- Whether auto-renew is on
- Nameservers
- Transfer lock
- WHOIS privacy
Lemon Domains only ever sends read requests to Dynadot: each integration has a fixed list of read-only calls it may make, so it never renews, transfers or changes a domain. Your API key is encrypted at rest and never shown again.
If something goes wrong
- Dynadot rejects the API key
- Copy it again with no spaces at either end. Some registrars only show the secret once, so create a new key if you didn't save it.
- Dynadot rejects calls from Lemon Domains' IP address
- Lemon Domains connects from 2.31.94.66. Add it to the API key's allowed IPs at Dynadot.
- Some domains are missing
- Make sure the API key belongs to the Dynadot account (or sub-account) that holds those domains. Connect each account separately.
Rather not use an API key? Import by paste or CSV
Copy your list from the Dynadot portal, paste it into Lemon Domains, and you're done. Re-import any time to refresh.
- 1Open your Dynadot account at dynadot.com and go to the domain list.
- 2If the list paginates, switch to "show all" or the largest page size so every Dynadot domain is visible.
- 3Copy the visible list, or export to CSV if Dynadot offers it from the account area.
- 4In Lemon Domains, click Import, paste the list or upload the CSV, and map the columns. Lemon Domains previews everything before it commits.
- 5Give the registrar account a friendly label (for example "Dynadot personal" or "Dynadot client work") so sub-accounts stay distinct.
- Paste or CSV import needs no Dynadot credentials at all.
- Dynadot sub-accounts are supported. Add one Lemon Domains entry per Dynadot account with its own label.

Do I need to share my Dynadot password?
