Connect Azure App Service Domains to Lemon Domains

Three steps: create a read-only API key at Azure App Service Domains, add it to Lemon Domains, and your domains sync once a day from then on. Connect as many Azure App Service Domains accounts as you have.

Step 1

Create a read-only API key at Azure App Service Domains

Give it the least access you can

A custom Azure role with the single action Microsoft.DomainRegistration/domains/read, assigned to the app at subscription scope. The built-in Reader role also works and is read-only.

  1. 1In the Azure portal, open Microsoft Entra ID → App registrations and create a new registration named “Lemon Domains” (single tenant, no redirect URI).
  2. 2On its Overview page, copy the Application (client) ID and the Directory (tenant) ID.
  3. 3Open Certificates & secrets → Client secrets → New client secret, and copy the secret's Value (it is only shown once).
  4. 4Open Subscriptions → the subscription that holds your App Service Domains → Access control (IAM) → Add role assignment, choose Reader (or a custom role with only Microsoft.DomainRegistration/domains/read) and assign it to the Lemon Domains app.
  5. 5Copy the Subscription ID from the same page and enter all four values in Lemon Domains.

Step 2

Add it to Lemon Domains

  1. 1Sign in to Lemon Domains (it's free), open Connections and choose Azure App Service Domains.
  2. 2Give the connection a friendly name, like “Azure App Service Domains personal” or “Azure App Service Domains clients”. Connect each Azure App Service Domains account separately.
  3. 3Paste your directory (tenant) id, application (client) id, client secret value and subscription id.
  4. 4Click Test connection. Lemon Domains checks the API key and shows how many domains it can see, without saving anything.
  5. 5Tick the checkbox to confirm you understand the risks, pick the project new domains go into, and click Connect and import. Your domains appear straight away and sync once a day after that.
Step 3

What Lemon Domains reads

Synced once a day
  • Domain names (including internationalised names)
  • Status, such as active, expired or pending transfer
  • Expiry and registration dates
  • Whether auto-renew is on
  • Nameservers
  • WHOIS privacy
Read-only by design

Lemon Domains only ever sends read requests to Azure App Service Domains: each integration has a fixed list of read-only calls it may make, so it never renews, transfers or changes a domain. Your API key is encrypted at rest and never shown again.

If something goes wrong

Azure App Service Domains rejects the API key
Copy it again with no spaces at either end. Some registrars only show the secret once, so create a new key if you didn't save it.
The key has an IP restriction
Lemon Domains connects from 2.31.94.66. Add it to the API key's allowed IPs, or remove the restriction.
Some domains are missing
Make sure the API key belongs to the Azure App Service Domains account (or sub-account) that holds those domains. Connect each account separately.

Rather not use an API key? Import by paste or CSV

Copy your list from the Azure App Service Domains portal, paste it into Lemon Domains, and you're done. Re-import any time to refresh.

Open App Service Domains

  1. 1Open your Azure App Service Domains account at azure.microsoft.com and go to the domain list.
  2. 2If the list paginates, switch to "show all" or the largest page size so every Azure App Service Domains domain is visible.
  3. 3Copy the visible list, or export to CSV if Azure App Service Domains offers it from the account area.
  4. 4In Lemon Domains, click Import, paste the list or upload the CSV, and map the columns. Lemon Domains previews everything before it commits.
  5. 5Give the registrar account a friendly label (for example "Azure App Service Domains personal" or "Azure App Service Domains client work") so sub-accounts stay distinct.
Heads up
  • Paste or CSV import needs no Azure App Service Domains credentials at all.
  • Azure App Service Domains sub-accounts are supported. Add one Lemon Domains entry per Azure App Service Domains account with its own label.

Azure App Service Domains + Lemon Domains FAQ

Does Lemon Domains support Azure App Service Domains domains?

Yes. Connect your Azure App Service Domains account with an API key and Lemon Domains syncs your domains automatically once a day. You can also import by pasting your domain list from the Azure App Service Domains dashboard or uploading a CSV export. Multiple Azure App Service Domains accounts are supported with friendly labels so sub-accounts stay distinct in the unified portfolio.

How is this different from the Azure App Service Domains dashboard?

Azure App Service Domains is an established registrar, but its built-in dashboard is account-scoped and not designed for portfolio thinking. Lemon Domains puts every Azure App Service Domains domain into one searchable, sortable list, adds live expiry countdowns, expiry window filters (under 30 days, 31-90 days, later), and project folders, and unifies Azure App Service Domains with every other registrar you use.

Do I need to share my Azure App Service Domains password?

No. Connecting by API uses an API key you create at Azure App Service Domains, not your password. A custom Azure role with the single action Microsoft.DomainRegistration/domains/read, assigned to the app at subscription scope. The built-in Reader role also works and is read-only. Keys are encrypted at rest, and Lemon Domains only ever sends read requests. Or skip the API and paste your list or upload a CSV.

Can I track multiple Azure App Service Domains accounts?

Yes. Add one connection per Azure App Service Domains account, each with its own friendly name. Personal and business logins, sub-accounts, and client accounts all sit side by side in one dashboard.

Does Lemon Domains renew my Azure App Service Domains domains?

No. Renewal still happens at Azure App Service Domains. Lemon Domains tracks expiry dates and auto-renew status so you know exactly when to act, but the renewal button stays at Azure App Service Domains.

Can AI assistants query my Azure App Service Domains domains?

Yes. The Lemon Domains MCP server lets Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, and any MCP client that can send a Bearer header query your full portfolio, including Azure App Service Domains domains, in plain English. Choose read-only or read-and-write access for each token.
